The First Band with Deff Generation was founded in 1989 by Cyril Neville, known for his work with The Meters, the Neville Brothers, and R.S.B. Deff G quickly rose to prominence in New Orleans, integrating into the city's vibrant music scene with Rickey on drums and Norman on keys.
Shortly after their establishment, The Caesar Bros began to support the Cyril Neville Band, additionally taking on production roles with the Neville Brothers and George Clinton. The Caesar Bros transitioned to becoming the backing band for numerous artists in New Orleans, thereby solidifying their musical influence.
Hailing from the 13th ward, an area known for its musical dynasty, The Caesar Bros spent their formative years amidst bands practicing in sheds. The cultural melting pot of New Orleans and its distinctive Mardi Gras Indians play a pivotal role in shaping their sound - a rich, vibrant mix of drum rhythms, piano melodies, and powerful horn sections, all reminiscent of a hearty New Orleans gumbo.
New Orleans' own sons, Norman and Rickey Caesar, carry on this extensive musical legacy, holding the title of undisputed custodians of uptown funk. They expertly maneuver the music, making it do what it does. Over the years, The Caesar Brothers have toured and recorded with a number of world-class musicians, including but not limited to The Neville Brothers, George Clinton and the Parliament-Funkadelic, Maze, Franky Beverly, The Meters, Tina Marie, and many more.
